NYC Council Campaign

The struggle to close Indian Point is heating up – especially in New York City. Entergy just sent out some preposterous but slick propaganda mailers. They need to be countered immediately with phone calls to NYC Council Members to urge them to pass resolution #0694 which calls for the shut down of Indian Point.

We now have 17 sponsors of the resolution, putting us halfway toward our goal of a veto-proof majority of 34 Council Members. This is all due to great grassroots organizing and the support of dozens of organizations mobilizing their members and contacting Council Members. PLEASE help to keep this momentum going!

We IMPLORE all NYC folks who support the fight to close Indian Point to make phone calls immediately. If you live outside of NYC, take a minute to recall people who you know who live there. Call them, or leave a message on their Facebook pages so that they know how urgent this is. If you know of interested groups in NYC, contact them. Now is the time to pull out all the stops!

Entergy has millions and millions of dollars to spend on lobbying elected officials and bombarding NYC residents’ mailboxes with glossy direct mail propaganda materials, in addition to the pro-Indian Point radio and tv ads they run frequently in the city. We must keep up a steady flow of truth about Indian Point.
