Action Plan:

The nuts and bolts process of getting resolutions passed

1)  Do outreach to the contact list of people in your area who are interested in closing IP to hold a

planning meeting.  Be sure to also invite any of your friends or family who might help.

a)  invite people by email

b)  follow this up with a personal phone call asking them to come to the meeting

2) Reach out to a local official

a)  send her/him a packet (see materials for packet in meeting handout and/or on the

     IPSEC website)

b)  call her/his office

            1.  If s/he is very supportive, ask her/him to put the anti-relicensing resolution on the

     agenda of an upcoming meeting

            2.  If s/he is just interested, set up and hold a meeting with her/him

3)  Once the resolution is on a meeting agenda

a)  send all members of the board information

b)  have supporters send letters and make phone calls in support of the resolution to all

      board members

b)  make sure there will be at least 5-10 constituents at the board meeting ready to speak in

support of the resolution (call and email supporters to make sure they attend—

     email is NOT enough!)

c)  if you want more support, you can ask for your IPSEC regional coordinator to find an

expert from IPSEC to speak at the board meeting

4)  Get the resolution passed at the Board meeting

5)  Notify IPSEC that the resolution passed

6)  Send follow-up letters to legislators who passed the resolution

7)  Start process for next municipality
