Below is all of the information you need for the March for a Clean Energy Revolution on Sunday, as well as the Clean Energy Summit on Saturday, if you are coming into town for that.

NOTE: it is going to be very hot on Sunday, and we will be outside for several hours. Please mind your personal safety: bring water if you can, as well as an umbrella or hat.

The march organizers are also setting up a few stations set up along the way with water and shade canopies. The march is fully permitted and the police have been very cooperative. There will be police escort all along the march route, so if anyone has a medical condition, first-responders should be nearby.

Attached are a couple more things we’ll be bringing for the march:

  • The large 12-foot long banner that we’ll be leading the contingent with (in addition to the hundreds of flags, and the #NuclearIsDirty-themed banners made by Catherine Skopic)
  • A half-page flier on the contingent, nuclear power, and Pennsylvania (it’s printed two sided).

March Schedule

10am – Nuclear-Free, Carbon-Free Contingent set-up: meet us at the march site to help assemble flags and distribute signs and fliers – we need at least six people!

11am-noon – Nuclear-Free, Carbon-Free Contingent Rally 

11:30 – Clean Energy March press conference – this won’t involve our contingent, but Leona Morgan of Dine No Nukes will represent us in speaking with reporters

Noon — Buses arrive at City Hall

  • Interfaith Contingent service begins

12:30pm – March assembles at City Hall (exact location below) 

1pm – March starts

2pm – March arrives at Independence Hall

2pm-3pm – Clean Energy Revolution visual action

  • This will be a visual event once all the marchers arrive, with everyone forming a giant sun image representing the Clean Energy Revolution.

March Starting Point and Nuclear-Free, Carbon-Free Contingent Location

  • The march will be lining up on the south side of City Hall in Philadelphia, on South Penn Square.
  • The Nuclear-Free, Carbon-Free Contingent will be close to the middle of the march line-up, so we expect to be close to the intersection of South Penn Square and South Broad Street.

Suggested Parking & Rates:

  • 1500 Market Street: $13 for the day
  • 7th & Ranstead Streets: $10 for the day
  • North 15th Street & Spring Street: $5 for the day
  • PPA Parking Garage 1 block north of Friends Center: $7/day on weekends
  • Street Parking: Free on Sundays

Housing Details

For those who have reserved a dorm room at Drexel University through Food and Water Watch, all of the details you need are copied below. The details also include parking lot information.

PLEASE NOTE the check-in and check-out times, which are quite restrictive due to Drexel’s requirements. If you CANNOT make one of the check-in times, you need to do two things:

  1. Fill out the attached Guest Housing Agreement.
  2. Email it to Sarah Mandel at Food and Water Watch and ask her about an alternate arrangement to check in and get a key.

HOUSING DETAILS from Food and Water Watch

Race Street Residence Hall at Drexel University, 3300 Race St., Philadelphia, PA 19104

  • Directions: You can find directions from multiple locations here.
  • Parking: The entrance for the overnight parking garage (Lot G) is located on Ludlow St. (see map here). The garage is open from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. You can pay for parking in the lobby – you’ll have to remember your spot number. Parking is $18 for the entire weekend, but there is no coming and going.


  • Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. 
  • You’ll need to meet me at the front desk to check in and sign a housing agreement before you’re given your keys.
  • If you need to check in at a different time, please reply back to me with your arrival time.


  • Everyone must check out by 3:00 p.m. Sunday.
  • You can express check out anytime by putting your key and conference access card back into the conference booklet you receive at check in and dropping it into the express check out box at the front desk.
  • Luggage: After checking out on Sunday, you can store your luggage at the Food & Water Watch Philadelphia office located at 1501 Cherry St. The building will be open, and there will be a receptionist at the front desk who can direct you. Food & Water Watch is opening our office for luggage as a matter of convenience only and accepts no responsibility or liability.


  • Room details: Each suite has two bedrooms, and each bedroom has two beds. Each suite has its own restroom.
  • Roommates: If you requested a roommate, you are paired up with them. If you did not request a roommate, you are paired up with another March attendee. You will get assignments at check-in.
  • Linens: Linens will be provided, including 2 sheets, 1 towel, 1 washcloth, 1 pillow, 1 pillowcase and 1 blanket.
