The Environmental Forum with NYS State Senator Pete Harckham (SD 40) and Stephanie Keegan, candidate for Assembly District 94, delves into serious environmental issues facing Westchester’s citizens. The Forum is moderated by Courtney Williams of SAPE, Stop the Algonquin Pipeline Expansion, and was co sponsored by many other Hudson Valley organizations.

Fossil fuels and how to decarbonize our New York economy is explored in depth.  Pete strongly supports the new Climate Leadership Protection Act (CLPTA).This law was passed in the spring by the NYS legislature. It is rapidly becoming a road map for all of New York as we move to being carbon free by 2040.

Pete talks about a NYS  Decommissioning Oversight Board (DOB) and why we need it.  This bill will be considered when the legislature comes back into session. We need it to ensure a safe and speedy decommissioning of Indian Point. Ensuring a just transition for employees of the plant is an important part of the plan.

There are many problems with one of our major utilities – Con Ed. They never seem to be adequately prepared. Hear some unique proposals from Pete to deal with something that affects all of us in the Con Ed service area.
