Thanks to the hard work of people across the state, New York passed a major climate law in 2019 called the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA). This law requires us to achieve a clean economy state-wide by 2050, with strong provisions for justice and equity.

To meet these goals, the law created a ‘Climate Action Council’ (CAC) and charged this council with making a Scoping Plan. This is a plan that lays out what the state government should do to meet these goals. Our state agencies will use the scoping plan to end pollution in New York State.

The draft Scoping Plan came out in January 2022. It’s 861 pages long, and covers everything from agriculture to fossil fuel electricity to transportation. At this training, we’ll learn together about what the Scoping Plan is about, what it does, and why it matters
