Vanessa Agudelo Invites YOU to the Climate Action Council Hearings

Vanessa Agudelo, former Peekskill council member and presently a Democratic candidate for the congressional seat formerly held by retiring Sandy Galef (CD-95), is asking all of us to bring our ideas concerning Climate change and what we can do about it to these hearings, whether in-person or by written testimony, to help solve the climate crisis that we are presently in.

The Climate Action Council has staged public meetings throughout New York accepting comments from the public that will be compiled and become of the urgently needed Climate Action and Community Protection Act.

The legislature  passed CLCPA as a scopping plan – not a bill.  The intent was two fold. To infuse the goals making New York State green and a leader in the fight against global warming into the entire apparatus of State government and to solicit the opinions of as many New Yorkers as possible.

Here is a short stack of some of the proposed goals.

40% reduction in emissions by 2030.

70% renewable electricity by 2030.

100% zero-emissions electricity generation  by 2040.

40% reduction in overall greenhouse gas emissions  by 2040.

85% reduction in overall greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

The major overall goal is to eliminate  100% of the climate pollution caused by humans.
