ALL HANDS ON DECK TO TAKE 2 URGENT ACTION STEPS:
#1. URGENT ACTION to keep calling Assembly Speaker Heastie (toll-free) 855-969-5613 or 518-455-3791 and tell him to bring the Save the Hudson bill – Assembly Bill A.7208 to the floor for a vote to prohibit discharging radioactive waste into the Hudson River in order to protect our children, our communities, our water supply and our economy.
Even though NYS Senate unanimously passed (63-0) the Save the Hudson bill Senate Bill S.6893 (Harckham) to prohibit discharging radioactive waste into the Hudson River, NYS Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie did not bring the Save the Hudson Assembly Bill A.7208 (Levenberg) to the floor for a vote on the last day of the Assembly’s session. A special session of the NYS Assembly has been scheduled on Tuesday, June 20th to wrap up Assembly work.
This is one last shot to pass this bill, but we need to keep the heat on Assembly Speaker Heastie to implore him to bring the Assembly version of Save the Hudson Bill to the floor for a vote on that day.

Background
Holtec International is decommissioning the Indian Point nuclear facility. They plan to dump over a million gallons of contaminated waste from the highly radioactive spent fuel pool on the site into the Hudson River this summer. The discharge of radioactive waste, which includes numerous radionuclides including tritium, poses a serious threat to public health, a vital water source and ecosystem as well as to the economy. The Hudson River is the primary water supply for more than 100,000 residents in 7 municipalities, while other communities depend on it as a backup water source. The River is also a prime destination for fishing, boating and tourism for the entire Hudson Valley region.
We need everyone to keep calling Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie (toll-free) 855-969-5613or 518-455-3791 and tell him to bring Assembly Bill A.7208 to the floor for a vote to prohibit discharging radioactive waste into the Hudson River in order to protect our children, our communities, our water source and our economy.
Thank you for taking urgent action and sharing widely!
