Monthly Indian Point Convergence
First Sunday Every Month, at 1:30PM
Stony Point Center (17 Cricketown Rd, Stony Point, New York 10980)
Since July of 2011, Stony Point Center has been the home of a growing movement of citizens in the Hudson Valley and NY Metro Area who are concerned about the safety of Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant and, now that a closing date has been announced, are concerned that there is a plan for a safe decommissioning process, including plans for the tons of irradiated “spent” fuel and other radioactive waste. The plant is now 40 years old and operating under a temporary license extension; the units still operating are scheduled to shut down in April 2021 and April 2023.
Join the Indian Point Convergence each first Sunday of the month from 1:30 until 4:30 pm (or later, but we have great snacks!) for an afternoon of strategizing and coordinating a grassroots effort to close the plant. For more information, call Marilyn Elie 914-954-6739.
